harmonic balancer pulley
harmonic balancer pulley
hi guys need help removing the pulley from the balancer the middle screw is impossible to remove the balancer keeps on turning as i try to unscrew the bolt any ideas?

Transmission: 700R-4
Axle/Gears: 10-bolt w/3.73s
do you have plugs in the engine? because if there are plugs in, it will make it harder for the motor to turn over.
is the serpentine belt still on the car? the added tension on everything that the belt gives will make it harder for the motor to turn over too.
do you have access to an impact wrench? that will take it off in a hurry. or, just try to get a sorcket on it and hit it softly with a mallet. the impact of that will sometimes break it free, without creating enough force to spin the balancer.

use a cordless drill with a socket... It won't turn it at all...

Leave the belt on and the plugs in, grasp the pulley with one hand to keep the engine from turning and turn the bolt with a 1/2" breaker bar in the other. You don't need any fancy tools, just muscle. Putting it back on to 70 ft-lb while holding the engine is the hard part by hand
