I was wondering, my old 305-TBI is getting tired. So naturally its about time to retire it. So now its just what do I want to do???? I want to do something different. I already chose a TPI system, I just dont know whether or not to go with a 350 or a 305. I like the gas mileage of a 305, but I love the kick of a 350. so I was just gonna put in a fresh 305ci, LT1 cam, new heads, etc. and just get the most out of 305ci.
(considering I already have the block and stuff)

Then I started wondering if its at all possible to Tuned Port Inject a 327???? It may sound dumb to some, but if it is posible, then it would be cool and rare. What do you guys think??????

 

Of course it is.

All a 327 is, is a 350 with a shorter stroke crank. Same block. (a large journal 327, anyway; 68-up)

Keeping that thought in mind, a 383 is nothing but a 350 with a longer stroke crank... by the same difference (about ¼") that a 327 stroke is shorter.

People stroke a 350 to a 383 in order to get more power.

So, what do you suppose happens to a 350 if you took that same amount of stroke out of it?

There's a reason 327s are "rare" these days; and it's NOT because they're so valuable and worthy that they've all been snapped up and hoarded away somewhere. "Rare" does not automatically equal "cool" or "desirable" or worthwhile; sometimes, things are "rare", because no one wants them, so no one bothers to create them.

I think, you'd be spending extra money, to set yourself back instead of moving yourself forward. In fact, you'd be using your own money, by your own hand, as the weapon to shoot yourself in the shorts with.

A classic example of how just because a thing is possible, does not automatically mean it's a good idea.

I always thought a 327 TPI would be cool if you had an old 327 and an old TPI lying around. Work with what you have right?

....but as sofa says, no point in going out of your way to create it.

 

A 327 was a really nice engine when everybody else had 283's.

Like today with the 383 vs 350.

 

The nature of the 327 is to make power in the upper RPM range due to its short stroke; putting a tpi system witch doesn’t flow above 4500 RPM would choke out the 327 when it gets into its power band. You will end up with a very unbalanced system that probably won't perform well.
