MAF sensor changeout
MAF sensor changeout
I have a 41 chevy conv streetrod with a 1986 Z28 TPI in it. Due to the very long MAF sensor, my air ckleaner rests on teh back of teh radiator- VERT hot intake air. Anyone know if I can delete, modify, or replace the MAF sensor to solove this problem? have heard that to do so requires a complete electronics change- $$$
Thx for any help!

You can switch to a Speed Density setup.
You'll need a new ECM+Prom, Knock sensor, Map sensor, and re-wire a couple of things.
Here is the website I am getting my info on my swap.

I already have my ECM, installed new knock sensor, waiting on the V8 Memcal prom from the dealer, and was about to attemp to re-wire the maf harness to the speed density computer.

First, thx a bunch for teh reply!
I am almost sure that mine is an 86 TPI, so it would be different than your 85- yes? I AM sure that it has a very large 3" diamter MAF sensor, and that is what I am trying to get rid of. Did yours have that as well?

The MAF setup I had was an 87, and it did have that large MASS Air flow sensor.
I am switching to Speed density becuase of that. Makes it hard to make a nice dual inlet cold air intake setup, there is no space for the tubing when using the MAF.
The website that attached earlier is not mine. I am using that site as a reference for doing my swap.
