?s about non-stock PCV with valve cover breather?
I'm going to use one the "Mr. Gasket" push in breathers with the PCV tube on it since my valve covers don't have any baffles in them, this way I hope to keep out excess oil from entering the intake.
That means I'll have an "in-line" PVC valve between the reather cap and the intake.
Is it ok for the PCV valve to lay flat instead of up and down like a stock one should?
And does it matter which PCV valve I use for an in-line one, I think the different ones flow differing amounts of air?
Thanks

2Quik,
The position of the PCV is not a problem, but the selection of the PCV is very important. I used to work for a supplier of PCV valves to Robershaw, who was an OEM supplier to the auto manufacturers. The pintle, spring, and even the stamped steel body are calibrated to flow at a given rate at a given pressure differential. Get the right one for your engine, or you could have problems.
I had a bout with a 262 V-6 that wouldn't idle right. It had a brand new Fram PCV valve, along with a lot of other normal maintenance parts. After a few weeks of getting MAPA error codes and chasing the problem around, I reluctantly changed the PCV back to the cleaned (but used) AC valve, and the idle speed and quality returned to normal, with no more errors. Either the valve was incorrectly packaged, mislabeled, or had the same kind of quality control that Fram filters are reputed to have.
Get the correct AC PCV, especially since the MAF cars are very sensitive to intake air and bypass air flows.

Thanks Vader. Yes, I know the MAF engines are sensitive to the PCV. My GN's BLMs go thru the roof when the PCV goes bad, but the SD TPI seems to not care much even with obvious vacuum leaks. The guy at the local auto shop couldn't tell me which Purolator PCV would work with my 5.7 TPI since I was not using the stock replacement..go figure, guess I'll keep trying but will be ready to fire up the motor tomorrow.
Thanks
