Sheet metal intake

This maybe dumb but could you build a sheet metal plenum with shorter mandrel bent runners? I bought a TPI because they were the fastest of the third gen just to be told the best way to go faster is to remove the TPI. What the hell? If this is because the runners are too long, could a sheet metal plenum be built to utilize a shorter runner? A thicker steel mounting flange for the TB, welded plenum box and mandrel bent exhaust tubing for runners to a ported intake. It could be done cheap if you can weld and have time. My question is would it be worth the effort, or even possible to do? I'm trying to use my head cause I can't afford a super-mini ram. I did a search, if I'm covering old ground please direct me to that post. Thanks

well it might work, but not for all RPM ranges. thats why its called TUNNED PORT injection, its takes lots and lots of testing to get the flow right to give you power where u want it at, for example, you might design it where you are only making power 3000+ RPMS and it would be a waste of time\money unless you are supper rich etc. if u want more power, and can't afford a super ram then just get some different runners for now. and then a new base when u get the money, and in ur free time ya can make ur own TPI set up, who knows, u might just get a good set up and then u could sell it.

If you have the skills to do it, then go right ahead and make it. There is no reason at all that it won't work, as long as you get everything sealed well. It sounds like you're basically talking about making a homemade superram.

You could make a WHOLE lot of money if that works. I'd paten it.
