simple tpi assembly question
hey all,
I have had my tpi assembly put together for almost a whole week (yaay me
). now i need to tear it back down due to crap injectors. do i really need to order new gaskets (large diameter) or can i get away with using them again? maybe a little of that high tack stuff to help the seal?
Thanks,
Thunder

I agree. Get new gaskets. I did the same thing with mine. If I remember, Advanced sells an entire set of Felpro gaskets for around $40. Also make sure you check and carefully cut out any areas with excess material. It could restrict air flow and we all hate that. Good luck.

damn. thats a freakin bummer. i gasket matched the damn things... guess i learned my lesson. test the injectors FIRST.
does anyone have an easy way to open the gaskets up?? i have a felpro set, and i have an edlebrock set, both of which are metal impregnated. this of course makes them a bitch to modify. a dremel sanding wheel just gets chewed/cut up, and using a deburring tool just jerks it out of your hand. my ports are all opened up to 1.75, which requires alot of modification to the standard gaskets

Maybe try the carbide dremel tool. It's made of metal and looks similar to a roto-zip bit. It won't get clogged up or beat up like the sanding ones. I haven't used it on a metal impregnated gasket but I have used them on solid metal and they work great. Should go through a gasket like a hot knife through butter. Good luck.

you know what else is awesome?? the mr. gasket #146 large diameter set is no longer available due to a manufacturing mistake... with no lead time on when they are back in stock
does anyone else make a decent 1.75" diameter gasket set for tpi runners?

not with the edelbrock runners... they are larger and hold the fuel rail much tighter than the stock runners. if you have a trick to do this, please hook me up... that would make my life suck much less right now
