Does the control module advance timing when...

The tan/ black wire is disconnected, and the motor is revved up to 2500 rpm?
I get 6 deg. of advance sharply at 2500 rpm. Is this normal?
Thanks,
Jeff

I believe when the tan/black wire is disconnected the computer can't advance the timing at all, no matter what rpm you're at. So if you're getting 6* advance then that's good. That means your base timing is correct. If you want to watch it advance the timing then you need to use the timing light when the wire is plugged in.

Oops. I didn't specify that it gives me an EXTRA 6 deg. of advance at 2500 rpm, and at idle it has 6 deg. So at 2500 rpm it's at 12 deg.
