Tach reading is off!!!!PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Tach reading is off!!!!PLEASE HELP!!!!!
I have posted this in the electronics page with no response.
Ok I have a 87 GTA with the digital dash, 350 TPI that had an engine fire. Ok I used a engine harness from a 87 IROC and the headlight harness from a 86 T/A. The problem I have is that when the tach displayes 6000 RPMS it is at 3000 RPMS. I know this because I hooked up a digital timing light that had a tach display on it. The distributor is out of a 87 Monte Carlo SS. Anyideas to what could be causing this? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Engine: lt1 intaked 355 makin 277 on 25 psi of fuel pressure and stock timing :)
Transmission: A4 stock... that moved a mobile dyno a foot shifting into 2nd :)
no but i have had the same problem and i just put in an aftermarket tach.

305, TPI,compucam 2030 cam, air foil, 8.8 wires, accel super coil, dynomax headers, custom y-pipe, cut out, 80 series flowmaster, 2.73's and an open diff(3.42-3.73 on the way). and a stage 4 chip :0). hittin a sad 15.2 before the chip.

That would work but I would like to try to keep the interior looking orginal, But it is looking like I might have to do that, because nobody has any idea what is wrong.
