Need quick info, about to install CAM, did I get the right one?

Ok, I ordered my Crane Cams CompuCam Series 2050. Specs are 272*/284* & .454"/.480"

My car was an LG4 5 speed but now has a 90-92 TPI unit on it.
Modifications to the car are 52mm Thorttle Body, Dynomax shortie Headers(not sure about the size) MSD 6A with Blaster 3 Coil, and stock 87 TPI heads.
I have an Eprom programmer on the way to custom program my car, but I want to make sure that this cam will work with my setup.
In the Jegs catalog, it says this cam is for "Serious Performance for modified 305 5 speed or 350 w/3.73-up.

Box said "for 81-87 305 and 350 carbed motors"

I need to know asap, as I am about to tear the motor apart today to install it.
Thanks,

That is quite a big cam for a 305, just about as big as the LT4 HOT cam (218/228 on a 112 LSA) in my 355. In the 305, it's powerband is gonna be higher than what the TPI is capable of handling. I guess if you want a lopey cam and are willing to spend a good amount of time tuning the chip, then it'll work, but I would've gone with something a little milder, maybe one step down.

I really wish people would stick w/ duration @ 0.050" when asking cam questions, as those advertised duaration numbers could translate into a lot of different things.
Anyhow, if it is on the order of the LT4 hot cam then it is definitely too much cam to effectively use w/ a stock TPI set up. The base and heads will never move the air that cam is capable of. I don't think it will run poorly, it just won't be optimal.
Add a siamesed base, maybe some runners and some ported/vette heads and you'll fly though (might want to move to 3.73 or so gears too)

btw, even though that lift isn't that extreme, i'd still make sure i was running some nice valvesprings. Eventually that thing will be asking to spin to 6500 or so RPMs, valvetrain control is essential.

- Definitely prototypes, high powered mutants of some kind. Too weird to live, too cool to die

Ok, so I will be able to get my car to run with this cam.

Tuning is not a problem, you gotta learn it someday.

Thanks guys.
