Just bought Fuel rail Fittings... They dont work...

So I bought a pair of fuel rail fittings for my 305 TPI motor. They are too pig for the fuel rail!! they dont thread in. Is there a trick to it or something?? There is only one kind of fittings made for the tpi fuel rail and they were supposed to fit my motor.. I dont want to return them if i dont have to. Any help would be great.
