interchangable TPI's?
Hey guys, i just put a L98 from a trans am i bought last year in my iroc-z, and in the iroc there was a 305 TPI originaly. now the 305 is sitting in the garage, yesterday i took the whole TPI system off, and was thinking of cleaning it all and polishing it. but before i start, i wanted to know will it fit on my 350? is there any differance, because i put them one on top of each other and they look the same (i meen the conections wires ect..) and while i have it in my hands, is there any good power adders i can put on? i was thinking mabey a LT1 TB or new runners, but there expensive for the power i think they will give...anywas waiting for your response, thanks Jazz!

oh and i think my L98 is a 87, because the bolts for the valve covers are on the top not on the sides like the LB9.

Make sure you have a spark module from a 350 in your car, it won't run very well at all if you have the old 305 one in there. The 85-88 and 89-92 TPI intakes are all the same with in their respective years. I would port the plenum especially the restrictions behind the TB.

I also have a MSD ignition system from the trans am who had the 350 originaly, if i put it one with some bigger injectors will i see a bigger differance? mabey port the intake a bit to have more air more gaz and more fire? or just put the msd and leave the stock injecters?

Re: interchangable TPI's?
Bigger injectors are for an engine that needs them. For a mild 350 I wouldn't go over 24 lbhr. If you install larger injectors then necessary they won't cycle enough and your performance and milage will suffer. Same with over porting the intake. Remove the restriction right in the front of the intake where the TB mounts, and maybe a little in some other areas. There are several threads with very indepth information on plenum porting and the drawbacks and benefits to each style. What you do here really depends on what your ultimate goal is and how fat your wallet is, your skill along with many other factors.
