low rpm problem w/ v8 tpi
hey guys, i got a problem. i just got a 91 firebird gta w/ a 5.0 tpi in it. the problem is that the car's rpm goes below 1000, then comes up a bit, then drops down, then back up, and then back down again-u get the point!
the car drives great, but when i come to a red light or stop, the car goes into the low idle and it sometimes stalls- does anyone know what the f is wrong w/ it? i was thinking that the throttle had to be adjusted to up the rpm, right? if so, how do u do that??? thanks guys!!!!

Your idle surge is common amoung third gens, it sounds like your throttle position sensor. I would get a new one and have it set properly to .5 volts and idle and 4.0 at full, I could be wrong, about the numbers, but I will bet thats its your TPS.
another thing if you have a constant low idle, that oculd mean somone screwed with the stock idle screw, look at the back of the idle stop screw, there should be a metal cover, if its not outed somone changed the idle, you can use a T 10 torx bit to raise it. but I think its your TPS because your idle surges , if it was just low I would say raise your idle.
