Rich ? Lean ? What gives ????

I have a Speed Density TPI unit on a SB 415 with cast heads and 10.5:1 compression and my headers are glowing even with moderate driving or just reving it up in the driveway. I am running 24 lb injectors, I have set my min idle and TPS to .54v. I had a custom PROM burned by Jimsperformance.com My base timing is set at 2 degrees AFTER TDC with the set timing plug undone. I just replaced the O2 sensor just incase it was bad and it did not help.

Before you say my timing is to retarded I had this same problem when the timing was set at 12 Before TDC. I backed the timing down to help control the clatter.

Where should I go from here? Who makes and Where can I get a good scanner for the computer. I am at wits end please give me a hand with this.

Thanks..

Have you checked your spark plugs, or at least A spark plug and see if it is lean or rich??

I pulled a few plugs and I would say they look about perfect.

Thanks

I think the answer is pretty obvious. That custom chip is obviously COMPLETELY wrong. If i were you i wouldn't turn that engine over a single turn until i replaced that chip.
Even though 24lb injectors could be choking your power depending on your heads/cam, they would be able to 'drive' in the normal sense of the word just fine.
My suggestion is to learn how to burn your own PROMs. I bet you'll laugh when you see what you paid for from jimsperformace...

Ed,

Since I know absolutly nothing about custom programming what parameter would you think is causing this?

If I get the equipment to burn them myself will I be able to read the bin file off my prom and make changes to it, or will I have to start from scratch.

The process seems pretty easy but I would like some idea where to start and what to look for.

Thanks..
