LT1 or vortec head/intake??

i was planning on going with the vortec head/manifold combo with LTR and ported plenhium with a LT1 hot cam but now i am thinking about doing the LT1 manifold swap. any comments on what would be better.
I plan on using the LT1 hot cam or something very comparable and i am also aware that if i use the LT1 maniflod the stock heads will be changed out with something else other than using vortec due to there different port size.

I just got a 93 lt1 with the fuel rail and injetors..... thats the easy part i think the computer with MAF will be a BIATCCHHH>>.

white87gta,
the hot lt4 cam will be a good choice. short
runner design will encourage upper end power.
low end will lag until 2000rpm. gears can fix
that. the votec swap to lt1 intake will be a
lil more difficult than the standard head.
because of the vertical bolt placement. or drill
the heads for the pattern. but im thinking the
high roof will still be a problem as it is for
stande manifolds. the lt4 has a higher roof
and id think it a better swap to vortec/fast
burn head. im doing a long tube runner/vortec
motor, then to a ramjet manifold, then to a
lt4/miniram then a tunnel ram with 2 vortec
throttle bodies. to see the different characteristics
of each. with the hotcam.

importsrsloths,
the computer would be easy with the MAF. just
treat it like a minram style intake. a lil
more gear and fatten up the upper rpm. a bigger
throttle body would be better 52mm.

thanks for the reply but i think you might have misunderstood me.
i know that if i go with the LT1 manifold/intake (properly machined to fit) i will have to use standard type heads (non-vortec) that will compliment the cam when properly preped.
or i will use the vortec heads with the new manifold that is available to be used with the vortec heads with a LTR setup.
the question is which set up would be better? i figure the engine will be required to rev to 5600-5800 rpms which will be at the extreme top end capabilities of a LTR set up.

Consider that A LOT of LT1 guys have run 9's with the stock intake (power adders help though )

vortec heads in stock to mild prep will not suffice
the higher rpm. with 170cc intake port a good
mid range pull (2200-4800) is where they shine.
better head to concider is the fast burn. when
you get the vortecs prepped youd have 3/4 the
price of fast burns. and would lose out on
the thermo-effiency. i saw where some one did
a cfm comparison on several heads and the vortec
faired 8th outta ten.
"i was planning on going with the vortec head/manifold combo with LTR and ported plenhium with a LT1 hot cam but now i am thinking about doing the LT1 manifold swap.
unless the use of better heads the LTR will suffer.

looks like it will be the LT1 manifold for me.. now the question is what type of head to use. i was thinking either the dart iron eagles fully preped (ya i know they are not alluminum) or the afr 190. looking at cost the darts seem pretty reasonable in cost and preped will flow very well. just wondering outloud if i will regret not going with the afr 190's. any opinions?
