Yes, I believe so. It reburns the fumes from the gas tank. It won't have the line from the carb vent, but I did for my conversion. Besides, it's emissions needed, right?

i was just wondering if anyone knew of a way to go with out using it. i think theres a sensor with it and i don't want the engine to run bad without it. so if anyone has a tpi car without the charcoal canister please tell me how to do it up right thanks

the fuel tank vent line runs into the charcoal canister, so you really need one. i have run my car for about 8 months without one because i never got around to buying one. just whatever you do, dont plug the vent line, it will cause pressure to build in the tank. just run the vent line outside of the car a bit. as for the electrical connections, you can just disconnect them and it wont hurt a thing. you will need to plug the vacuum port on the throttle body that the charcoal canister connects to though.
