SES light
SES light
I recently put a cam in my 305 t.p.i along with some other minor goodies. Now, after a few minutes of idle the SES light comes on. I ran the codes and discovered it was a problem with the egr which in turn breeded a lean exhaust indication. Has anyone encountered this before????? p.s. i also relocated IAT to airbox but threw a 680 ohm resistor across to see if the light would go away

Wll, your description is very vague. Here's a little help for you though.
-An EGR code is completely independent of a lean exhaust code you might be getting. I'm assuming you have an 86 by your name. Your EGR valve has a temp. sensor in the base. This could be going bad, or you might have forgotten to hook it back up when you put stuff together. If you are getting a code 32 while idling, then it has to be a problem with the connection as the EGR doesn't function at idle.
-The lean exhaust code could be anything. Perhaps a bad O2 sensor, perhaps you used non-sensor safe RTV on gaskets and the silicone vaport killed it. Perhaps you accidentally grounded the lead to it at some point, killing it. Perhaps you have a vacuum leak. Perhaps a dirty injector. Your first step is to verify the sensor is good w/ a DVM. If it is OK, then you have to figure out why it is really pushing lean. Unless you went nuts with the cam, i doubt it's a PROM issue though.
