I have a 91 305 tpi Z28, and I am having problems with the computer. Does anyone have a spare computer that will work with my car? I dont know if its the chip or the ecm itself so I am just replacing it all. It will run but the service engine soon light goes on and off. When it comes on it runs like crap and when it goes off it runs perfect. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Have you checked for trouble codes? It's pretty rare for a computer to die.

 

Yeah, when we put it on the scanner it said ecm.

 

in my experiance, i used a snap on scanner at my work. it said it wasnt able to comunicate with the ecu, or it was a faulty ecu. my snap on scanner i have at home is able to read the ecu just fine. so if u can get it scanned by a different shop. or one with an older scanner. u may find its not the ecu.
