I don't know how to test it, but think of it this way:

The knock sensor is just a piece of crystal that gets excited at a specific frequency (pinging). It doesn't wear out like something mechanical can.

So the chances of it being bad are quite low in my opinion. The wires connecting it could have a break in them, so check it visually for wear.

Thanx Alex for your suggestion.

I had the car up last night and I turned th eignition to On position and I tested the wire at the knock sensor. It showed a very week/low readnig. I know for sure that it was not .5v as I think it should be.

Does anybody else know if thta .5v should always stay on the wire or not when the ignition is on?

In the old days, we used to hook up a timing light, run the engine and take a small ball peen hammer and lightly rap on the exhaust manifold while watching the timing marks to see if they retard.

Now days, I just hook up the scan tool and it'll show whether or not it detecting spark knock.

BTW, are you experiencing a spark knock problem?
