What is this thing??

I'm doing my engine swap this weekend and finding all sorts of new things I didn't know TPI had on them. I found this one particular item that I'm curious about what it is. I don't have a pic of it so I'll try my best to describe what it looks like. It's about the size of a fuel filter on our cars and it sits back on the drivers side of the intake in the VERY back next to the distributor cap. It sits vertical and has an L shaped looking pipe that goes into the intake. On the top of this item there is one single connector on it. Oh yeah, it's gold colored... if that helps any. What the heck is this thing?? Is it something that I should worry about replacing. If anyone knows anything please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Look a little closer, if it's the oil sending unit it will be into the block, just behind the intake.

These guys are right, that tells your oil pressure guage where to move. Replace it if your guage doesn't work, otherwise just leave it.

This is NOT the oil pressure sending unit. I know where that's at. This is above that and sticks up ABOVE the intake right next to the distributor cap. A SINGLE connector is on top... one pin, not two. The bottom side has an L shaped pipe that comes down and goes into the back of the INTAKE.

i have an '86 t/a also. it is the oil pressure sending unit for the guage. you should also have another smaller one under it. silver. it is for the computer.

My mistake then. Thanks for the correction. The silver one is what I thought went to the guage. So the gold one is for the guage and the silver one below it is for the computer. Thanks

Nope, this doesn't have any vacuum lines. Thanks for the help though. The thing I'm talkin' about is the sending unit for the oil pressure. I got it taken care of. Thanks!
