hi guys i just finished a tpi swap in my 88 firebird formula 350 and it won't start..., i took the tpi engine, ecm, and ecm to engine harness, and put it in the firebird that was in a 91 camaro z28 that ran before the swap, i also changed the fuel pump to a tpi fuel pump, now the car cranks over, it has spark and im getting gas to the the fuel rail but it won't start, im thinking it is the injectors because the spark plugs arn't wet when i pull them out, any help would be great....i think the 88 doesn't have a vats system, and the 91 did, could that be my problem??

 

Did the 91 have VATS and the 88 doesn't? Maybe? That will keep the injectors from firing.

 

would a local shop be able to disable it in the computer or do i have to send it away somewhere??

 

Doubtful on the shop. You can play around with resistors to try and find the right value, or you can buy a bypass module (search on here for VATS bypass), or you can have a new chip programmed with it disabled.

 

i am assuming you checked the fuel pressure and stuff yadda yadda yadda, i have an 86 and my injectores were all ****ed up in the end i replaced the pump, injectors and had to clean out the intake to get it to start up, any new news?

 

no i replaced the fuel pump with a new one for a tpi engine, and i know im getting alot of pressure, and the motor ran great right b4 the swap, im in the mits of a vats swap to the 88, because the 88 didn't have a vats system and everything worked fine and dandy until i swaped the engine, the car turns over and has gas to fuel rail but the injectors won't fire because of the vats program in the ecm...lol or atleast i'm hopeing thats what it is...will update when she fires up, or if i run into more problems.
