Hey i was browsing through a summit today and saw performance throttle positions sensors like add ons made by Caspers Electronics.They make ones for GM's from 85 to like 91 and i my buddy put one on his Grand Am Gt and he said it gave him a better throttle response and stuff like that. The add says it adds a snappier throttle response and advaces timing. Anyone ever try it or have it?

 

If you're after true 1/4-mile performance and not just a "snappier" throttle response, don't waste your money on this. All it does is tell the computer that the TB is at WOT sooner than it really is, but doesn't do squat other than that. It doesn't advance the timing any, although you might get a little more timing for a split second at, say, 3/4 throttle if the spark advance table has more timing at WOT than it does at wherever you'd actually be on the s.a. table at 3/4 throttle. More snake oil...

Greg hit the nail on the head. Save your money for real mods. If you crave snappier throttle response there are better ways of doing it (in the PROM) The $$$ for this fancy faked out TPS would prolly put yourself well on the way to owning everything you need. And you can accomplish the same by bringing PE in sooner and adding some fuel to the pump shot.
