map sensor

I am planing on putting a speed density setup in my T/A. I have a map sensor off of a 2.8 and think I remember hearing that you could use a map sensor off of some of the v6's for a tpi motor. I was wondering if the one I have would work. I was told that the conector would have to be the same color as the part it plugs into. If this is true what color is it supposed to be on sd tpi cars.

Thanks for the help

Ben

Why are you switching over to speed density?

I currently have a lg4 in my car. I have the hardware from an 87 305 tpi. I plan on putting it on a roller 350 I have in the garage. I will definately need to program my own chips. I have heard that speed density is easier to program once you learn what you are doing. The parts are also a lot cheaper. Do you have any major reasons that I shoudnt go to speed density. I do not have a large income so I will be doing this over time, just geting parts as I can afford to.

Thanks

Who cares ? Are gonna change this into yet another MAP vs MAF war thread ?

My connector is green. I would says call a parts store and ask for the part numbers for a V6 2.8 and a V8 5.0 or 5.7 thirdgen and see if they're the same. I'm 99% sure they're the same though. Or you can go to AutoZone.com and use their online catalog to find out.

The "attitude" was directed towards nblanchard for asking why you're changing to MAP.

The biggest difference from MAP sensor to MAP sensor is the bracket for mounting, the sensor itself is the same. In fact, I recall the MAP sensor on my buddies TBI appeared the same (electrical connector and vacuum connection).

If you have a 90-92 TPI intake, get the proper MAP sensor for easy mounting. If you are using a converted MAF intake, grab any MAP sensor since you'll have to figure something out for mounting. Pre-90 plenums don't have the mounting for a MAP sensor like the 90-92 SD plenum.
