Why does my timing light not like my accel ignition?
when I time my tpi I have to reconnect the stock harness to get the timing light to get near the stock 6 BTDC. when I try to time it with the accel 300+ on it wont get anywhere near 6 -- it only goes to about 0 before stalling.
yes I know how to time correctly with the EST wire disconnected.
does this have something to do with the CDI?
------------------
88 WS6 T/A 305 TPI--
K&N,Air foil,hypertech chip, thermostat+fanswitch
free mods, dynomax catback, urethane motor+trans mounts, PST front end poly stuff, Earl's hyperflex brake lines SSM SFCs, Bilsteins very trick homemade ramair, Accel 300+ ignition system. Ported plenum, intake and heads with 1.94I valves.
Planning: Heddman 1-5/8 longtubes, NOS 150 plate, replace the "peanut"! and Eibach Sportlines.

its decent,
havent had any problems other than the one Im mentioning here. and it definately helps with starting and I notice that it pulls harder above 4000. I dont have any experience with MSD but I think they should be as good if not better than accel from the amount of bad things Ive heard about accel.

I have no idea what the problem is either but I have heard that you have to do the same thing with the MSD to get proper timing. I'll find out within the next week when I install my MSD 6AL.

I wouldn't think that timing lights would like captive discharge ignitions becuz it keeps sparking for a number of degrees. Stock ignitons only fire for a single degree but a msd type ignition fires for many degrees like 18* of crank rotation.

If the timing light isn't working with CD ignitions, then how can you get the timing set? Is there another way besides the old listen for it method.
I am going to a CD multispark system soon and would be nice to know.
