cam suggestions

ok, I am having a 383 built and need a suggestion for a cam. . it needs to be something that is mild enough for me to keep vacuum and still agree with the computer, but I love those crazy idles :-). . anyways, I am going to be running a 2500 stall converter and the 1.5 ratio roller rockers. . . any suggestions?? thanx

So far I'm happy with the SLP 51010 cam.

What are the specs on that cam Joe? I heard Comp Cams grinds their cams. I have a Comp Cams grind going in my 383. It is: 230 - 244 duration, .510" - .544" lift w/ 1.5 ratio rocker arms. They have a camshaft 1 step down from that one that they originally reccomended: 224 - 230 duration, .503" - .510" lift. Both cams have 112 degrees lobe separation.

You didn't say much about it other than "383, 2500 stall, good idle." Info about your cylinder heads, and induction system, as well as compression ratio, gear ratio - are also very helpful as well.

224/230 @ .050" , .502/.510 with 112 lobe seperation on 108 centerline. 280/288 advertised duration.

Comp cams prolly does the grinds.
