Smog pump

is the smog pump needed on the car, if i take it off will it lose any power or cause problems

Engine: modified L98

Transmission: 700r4

Axle/Gears: 3.27 9-bolt

It's only needed if your state requires you to have it to pass inspections. It is solely emissions related. You can remove it without throwing a code if you want to.
