Cam Swap Questions
I'm looking to put a new cam in my stock L98.
Figure on Adj. FPR, K&N filts, and headers/catback...so I guess it's not quite stock.
1. Any preferences as to which brand?
2. I'll probably get a valve job and new seals etc. while the heads are off, but would you guys UPGRADE and head parts? Rockers, springs, etc?
3.Injectors cleaned Bprinted, and matched???
4.Any other advice?

I would get the AFPR the one that is the cheapest. I made one myself for a quarter and it works great.
As for head parts it depends how much money you have. I would go with bigger valves (bigger exhaust valve at least). I would get Manley Pro Flow 2000. They are much lighter, one piece and made from stainless steel and will outflow any stock valve.
Get new valve springs for sure (recommended by the cam manufacturer). Get new bronze valve guides, new retainers, new locks, maybe you might want to consider screwed in rocker studs for higher lift cam.
And if you still have any money left buy a set of 1.6 roller tip rocker arms.
If you have the heads off then might as well port them and the lower intake too. Get a good book about porting SBC heads and you are set.
As for the injectors flowed I would not bother unless you have some problems with them. You will probably need to upgrade your stock injectors to higher flow ones down the road. So save your money on that.
Then get a custom made chip and you should be on your way to low 13's in my opinion.
I am in the ame boat as you getting ready for the cam swap and porting my stock LB9 heads and lower intake.
Just go to a good machine shop and they will tell you exactly what you need and how much it will cost you. By then you could probably get buy a brand new set of aftermarket heads.
Good luck.
