How do I match intake ports?
I have read some of you guys say you match your intake to your heads and polish your pleniums. How do I do this and is there any real gains? Any advise would help.I am a handy guy around the shop and don't want to just start grinding. I think I will put a pair of SLP runners on when I rebuild the engine this winter.I overall hope is to get to 300 HP my current engine is a 5.7 1989 GTA

These guys are talking about gasket matching.(cylinder head to lower base interface) I do not think it is a real gain unless you port the rest of the head.
You can port the lower base and the area to concentrate on is the middle part. It flows the least. Do a search on how to port a base and it will explain how.
As for polishing the plenum I think those guys meant getting rid of the restrictions as the EGR wall impose. gentle massaging and grinding will help the air to negotiate around the corners much better without loosing its velocity. Againg do a search on this topic.
Good luck.
