Im basically in the process of breaking my modded 305 TPI, Bascially all the sensors and relays are brand new except for some, but lately i've been noticing the car hesitating while i shift different gears, sometimes its not so bad then sometimes its very noticeable and annoying, this never happened the motor has about 350 miles on it and this problem started 4 days ago? i noticed the idling has become very weak. When i shift off to the next gear it feels as if its running out of gas, but i know theres gas its full. About friday when i went to the gas station, and left the car running(reason i left car running is headers are too close to starter if i shut off car wont start till cooled, need header wrap)while i took out the gas cap the cars idle went down and it shut off?? what could this mean?? Im more concerned with the hesitation, i have a brand new fuel pump, its working, ford 19lb injectors, tuneup all have about same miles as rebuilt motor????? Please help me with this hesitating problem. Just so u know i dont have a aftermarket fuel pressure regulator im using the stock one.

Well there's your problem.. you have ford parts in your GM... tisk tisk.. :P

Seriously though... Is it a MAF or SD system? Almost sounds like the air metering system is not working properly. Is the SES light on? Has it come on at all? Thats all I can think of at the moment.

haha. Sorry to laugh but the header thing was pretty much most of august for me.

That header wrap is freaking useless. And
the starter shield (blanket) is not any better. Know what I did? Bought the highest CCA battery I could find that would bolt into the stock pod, and it works perfectly.. I also have a fan switch to keep my motor cool.

The ford injectors _are_ rated at a different
PSI btw.

Your running almost the same intake setup as me, even bigger with the airfoil and 52MM. I bet your leaning out a bit, infact, I bet your air speed is so *** damn slow that you have absolutely NOTHING under 3500RPM. What are you running for a cam?

Then again, if you bolt on that 12psi supercharger, I bet all your problems will go away. (understand that you'll wanna boost your FP wicked).

You checked for vacume leaks around the SLP
runners? Mine leaked the first time, I think because I had them on backwards, but either way, they leaked a lot.

You know whats kinda silly about the SLP runners? The rough surface for all the crap to gum up on..

Just thought of something.. You didn't disconnect your charcoal canister did you?

Good luck.

Well for the time being i dont have the airfoil,52mm throttle bodie and SLP runners, i sold them to a friend of mine, and now im using stock, the cam im using is Lingenfelters/accel cam part #74211, the car has alot of power in low and top end, Im not pretty sure about the charcoal canister being disconnected, cause im not running emmissions on the car. the motor is an 87' 305 TPI, so are the parts, i bought the MAF and ESC used, is there anyway to test, if the MAF is broken???? The injectors were working beatifully since i started the motor, this HESITATION thing is getting worse, sometimes it goes away then after 3 minutes of driving it comes back!!!! Im sure this has happen to someone, Should i take it to a regular mechanic or to a GM dealer????? Gotta fix it before saturday

Hi,

This might sound silly but, try running the car with the gas cap off and tell me if you notice a considerable difference in performance.

I've found the problem, there was this miscellaneous house by the distrubutor out back and as i saw it and put my thumb on it there was this type of vaccum so i put a bolt on it for the mean time, couldnt find any other place to put it, after i have done that, the hestitation went away the idle is very good, so weird that a little hose like that can cause so many problems.
