What do you want to know about the ignition system? The computer takes its signal from the distributor and modifys the coil signal in order to control the ignition timing.

i want to know what could be making my car run at a ridiculously advanced timing . if i disconnect the bypass wire it should run at 8 deg and it wont

The ignition control module will still provide rudimentary advance when disconnected from the ecm. If your idle speed is too high you may be seeing this advance. Try dropping the idle speed down with the ESC connector (four plug pigtail going to the rear of the dist) disconnected. For TPI engines there's another connector that can be disconnected that will do the same thing but you can pull the plug at the dist to be certain.
