First Start-up
First Start-up
Ok, I'm a newbie to TPI but a fast learner. I've swapped in an '86 TA 305 into my '72 Vega GT and am about ready to light it off. I bought an after market harness less VATS, EGR etc. My current questions are; Will the fuel system prime itself? I have fuel in the tank but all lines, fuel rails etc are dry. Will the fuel pump run long enough for this? I have been reading where it only runs a couple seconds after you turn the ignition and stops while cranking. Lastly for now, the motor is a fresh rebuild with new cam and will need to run at 2000 rpm for the firsts 20 minutes to break it in. Will this effect the computer's ability to "learn" what it needs for idle etc?
Any other info or tips on things to check and or do prior to initial startup would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Re: First Start-up
If you dont put a fuel guage on the fuel rail to make sure everything gets pressurized then cycle the key on and off a few times but do not start it. That will definitely get everything pressurized and then check for leaks before starting it. Also make sure the timing is in the area it needs to be..
