Replacing my injectors

I already have some replacement injectors to put in...I am slowly learning how to work on cars and I don't want to mess this up. I would like to know the best way to replace them, what I need to remove to get to them and if theres a certain way or a trick to it. I want to make sure I do this right the first time. Thanx for any input.

Also, if anyone knows the best type of headers and cams, I'm interested in knowing. And is it better for performance to get rid of the MAF and replace it with the single cylinder/cone-like filter that goes into the throttle body? I know a 305 can be built up to be faster than this and I'm interested in knowing the things you can do to make it fast enough to at least beat most mustangs, maybe even a corvette....

Re: Replacing my injectors

Looks like you are relatively new to this board. There is a tech article on how to swao out injectors on the Home page here, under the Technical Article section.

I have not done this in several years, but you disconnect the two fuel lines at the front of the engine; be careful, fuel will run out of the fittings under pressure; its best to bleed off the fuel pressure first.

then using a 10mm wernch (I think) remove the four bolts that hold down the fuel rail. With the front fuel fittings disconnected and the 4 mounting bolts removed, the fuel rail along with the 8 injectors should pull straight up. Each injector will be pretty stubborn, but it all should come off in one unit.

Be very careful to remove the small clips that mount each injector into the fuel rail. Do not damage these or loose them. You must re-use them with the new injectors.
