LTR setup vs. Super Ram
LTR setup vs. Super Ram
I am having trouble deciding what I should do. I want to use the LT4 HOT cam and possibly the AFR 190cc heads. I am either going to use:
52mm throttle body, ported plenum, large tube runners, high-flow base
or
52mm throttle body, Super Ram plenum/runners, high-flow base
I always thought that the Super Ram would always out-perform, but Chevy High Performance went 12.3 with a LTR setup, plus it is cheaper, but I'm still not sure. I already have all the suspension to get decent traction, so it's time to go 12s N/A. What are the advantages/disadvantages of each setup? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ive been trying to decide which one I want as well. Emissions are strict here in CA so I cant go with a miniram. I too would like to know how much better a super ram is than a fully aftermarket tpi setup.

depends on what you want i had the lt4 hot cam with my ltr setup(installed straight up),and noticed it didn't have all the grunt it used too right off idle.with those heads i would say go with the superram.or advance the cam 2 degrees when you put it in that will help bring the cam on sooner with the longer runners.............

If you only want to run 12s and you only want to use something the size of the LT4 hot cam, than an LTR (or AS&M semi siamesed set) can get you there. It will be vastly easier to work on, look 'kinda' stock and be cheaper (even a lot cheaper if you find a set of used runners vs. not many used SRs laying around for sale)
Of course, you'll have to get your combo dialed in pretty good, you'll definitely be running near the limit of what LTRs can do.
The SR will ultimately have more potential, but it comes with the aformentioned difficulties in working around it and cost.

- Definitely prototypes, high powered mutants of some kind. Too weird to live, too cool to die
