how many quarts of trany fluid?

iv posted this in the trany board with no sucess.. but since alot of people here might know the answer to this question that don't ever goto that board.

how many quarts of transmission fluid do i need? im doing a full flush and am also installing a cooler, how much is required for a complete system refill\flush?

15 sounds about right. I don't know how much they vary from tranny to tranny in GM app's, but just changing the fluid in my 1970 Olds TH400 pan was around 6-7 quarts and my '91 Buick Regal was also the same, so if you are doing the TC as well, I would think 15 is about right. However, I would think you could call the dealership and they would know for sure.

Vader is one of our top ppl here, so I tread lightly with making a counter input. Your manual will say 5.7 quarts, and then plan on one quart for the converter if removed, and the cooler only will take approx. one pint.. this is from B&M themselves with their supercooler installation. I just put on a torque converter and transgo shift kit, and cooler.. refill took 7 quarts.
