Accel fuel pressure gauge, is it worth it?
I have a 1988 GTA and was wondering how the Accel fuel pressure gauge fits on the fuel rail. Is it worth the money? Does it fit well on the fuel rail? Any problems? Is it worth it? Any one have pics of it installed?

It took me some getting used to..you need and open ended wrench for sure..you have to work around the vacuum hoses and not getting your knuckles burned to a crisp..the guage isn't in the way at all if you turn the face counter clockwise..so you can read it standing at the front bumper. Good luck

There is a pic of it in a High Performance Pontiac (Engine Guide) magazine on the stands right now. They take over half a second off a stock L98 Gta doing simple mods (slicks, ice on intake, pressure guage and AFPR, open element air filter, air foil, MAF screens)

The performance their doing to the firebird is probably a repeat that they did on GM high tech. I know its cheap performance but im getting tired of iced plennum, taking out screens, k&N filters. Do some more mods. Wanna know how Clueless GM high tech is. On one of their issues they were modifying the hell out of a 350 TPI. The funny part is they install a 1000cfm throttle bodie, accel plennum w/runners,Air flow research heads fully ported and some other stupid stuff. Quarter mile times for the firebird 13.60 something(dont quote me on that). How pathetic is that. Even i know thats overkill for a 350. just my .02

yeah, i have one of those and it has been one of my better investments. it is abit more then you should pay for the guage but it is definately convient when changing FP or even using it for diagnostic purposes.
i was thinking of running some -3 braided hose and relocating the guage so i can see it through the windshield somehow. has anyone done this or have a good idea as of where to place it? what thread is on the shrader valve anyway, 1/8 NPT??

I'm running an autometer gauge mounted on my hood, with 4 feet braided line.
Works for me. I like seeing my FP when I drive.

Heres what happened when I got my Accel FP gauge:
The first thing I noticed was that the gauge had a clearance problem with the vacuum port on the plenum going to the FPR. Then it leaked fuel into the gauge face area as soon as I gave it pressure after installing it. I took it back.
The new one doesn't leak. Now I have problems adjusting the fuel pressure because the gauge is in the way. I have large hands, and by the time I get it where I want it my hands hurt for 2 hours from trying to manuever that small wrench in that little space.
If I had to do it over again I would get a remote mounted gauge.

I recently installed the autometer ELECTRIC gauge in the driver's compartment... what a great setup, and more user friendly in my opinion. Plus the mechanical gauges are notorious... at least from Autometer... for inaccuracies... anyway, it is a slick setup, and now u can really keep an eye on one of the most important aspects of your setup in regards to engine safety, at least in my case as I have added nitrous to my 87.
