EGR SOLENOID HELP....

We have a 1987 Iroc 5.0 5 speed and the egr solenoid is bad, we have checked with the dealer, auto zone, napa, yearone and not avalible.
Is there anyone who knows where to get one, or which one will interchange?
We need to have car smogged

Re: EGR SOLENOID HELP....

it shows they can have it in 1 day if you go to the store and pay for it or order it online . if that is to long i guess you out of luck , thats not a high order part for them to have it on hand so they keep them at their warehouse .

Re: EGR SOLENOID HELP....

before you buy it or any other part for that matter, be absolutely sure that is what you need. At one time, I was constantly getting an EGR failure trouble code on my '90 5.7 TPI. On the advice of a friend who is a GM dealer mechanic, I checked my injectors. He said there are multiple "indirectly related" problems that can set an EGR code. I had one injector that was definitly bad, and one that was questionable. Changing the 2 bad injectors fixed my EGR code.

I hope you don't end up chasing a problem all over the vehicle, as we all know can happen. Good Luck..

Re: EGR SOLENOID HELP....

ya , put an ohm meter on it , if it is below 20 ohm it is bad . also check that it holds vacuum .
