Sold an old car. what to buy for the GTA?
So here is my plan for the car. I need it to pass emissions, still get relativley good fuel mileage and would like to keep the tpi intake, and not have to do computer tuning. its nearly 100% stock now. just ignition mods.
i already have Fuel injector connections injectors. and hooker 2055's ceramic coated on the way.
im rebluilding the top end all the way down to replacing hte headgaskets.
i fuguerd why not put a cam in it if im that far in? im looking at crane cams 2032. i dont want to buy new heads. and i dont want to **** my stock ones up either.
so what, if any, springs, rocker arms, lifters would you recomend for a mostly stock engine with crane 2032 cam? if that cam would even do the trick. id rather not do the springs...or lifters...or rocker arms, but if i need to i will. also how about stud bolts?
basically i need info on what is best recomended for mild engine performance upgrade, but still keeping it as a daily driver needing emissions testing.
thanks for reading,
kyle

TUNE IT!
PCMFORLESS.com
Im at high altitude so I needed it to run right in the first place, but I went from a solid 15.75 @ 88mph to 15.30 @ 91.5 (Car is very consistant lmao). It was about $200 when it was all said and done and he said for $50 he will re-tune it for you if you ever need it. Also I didn't loose any gas mileage, and he set it to turn on the fans on early. 1/4 Mile HP calculator put this little mod in right about 20 hp. That I can attest to and put my name on.
I would work that in with the cam you want, bolt on some new springs and some titanium retainers if that bites at you as something you want to do
....I just like em haha. OOOHHH shiney lol.
After that I might suggest you semi-siamese the runners and hog out the plenum a little. I did this one before I hit the track but it did let me take the engine up about 400-500 rpm higher which if your thinking cam, its going to help you out ALOT. And there is definatly enough info on this site to get it done even if you dont have alot/any porting experience like I did when I ported my stuff.
I can see you getting ALL of this done for
$200 Tune
$400 Camshaft + Gaskets
$50 Intake Porting
So $650 for what? est 35+ hp, and a whole **** ton of power under the curve, as well as moving the powerband up 400-500 rpm.
my $.02
