88 350 problems

OK. Symptoms

-Used to be only on cold starts, now its every startup. When its cold, it turns over, runs for 1 second, then stalls. Warm, it turns over then idles rough, lopey, and at 300-400 rpm until it dies

-If you run it open throttle body its starts right up, idles rough for about 2 seconds, then runs great.

-Once its running ok, as soon as you throw it in drive and touch the gas to take off, it bogs and tries to stall. If you go wot 2-3 times, the bogging generally goes away

-Besides the major/near stall bogging, It seems to bog horribly right in the low rpm range where the 350 tpi normally shines. The car cant spin tire if you nail the gas going straight unless you brake torque it

-crazy fuel pressure on the rail

I just replaced the fuel filter, and the pump seems to be fine. I'm thinking its injectors and the fpr. I just bought lt1 injectors and i have a bbk afpr to put in. I just wanna make sure its not something a little more simple before i tear the top end of the motor off. Anybody have any other ideas of whats goin on?

Re: 88 350 problems

oh and another question. I wont have to modify anything to put the LT1 injectors in am i? As i far as i know I'm just swappin em in and lettin my ecm know that they're 24s not 22s. What should i set my fuel pressure for with those injectors?

Re: 88 350 problems

if you are not getting good fuel pressure readings and you know the pump is good then obviously you need a regulator . im not sure what you should set an adjustable regulator at other than the factory specs , unless you have a built motor with a custom prom i dont see any reason for it .
chances are if you use 24# injectors you will need to have a prom burned .

Re: 88 350 problems

i planned on having one burned. i have other mods that the ecm should probably know about. but would the starting/major bogging problems lean towards the injectors or the fpr?
