Air Filter restrictions
With all the talk about bigger MAF meters and modifying air boxes got me to thinking about the air filters. What kind of air flow can our 2 square filters handle? I know a pair of K & N's will flow more than a pair of Fram filters but still, they are something like 7 x 7.
My fiancee has a 2003 Grand Am GT that has a bigger air filter than the 2 of mine put together.
I'll post some pictures soon of my air intake system. I made a maf out of 4" aluminum pipe and formed it to match the throttle body. I also fitted the same formed pipe into the air box which has been made almost 3/4 inch taller than stock. After looking at the filter area I was thinking about the ram air boxes under the filters being modfied accept filter that are maybe 7 x 12 installed at an angle.
Any thoughts?
