383 swap...ECM and PROM compatability? ACTUAL EXPERIENCE PLEASE

Hey guys, I havent been one here in a while. Anyway, I picked up a clean 85 Vette with a rod knock for $500. I am looking at throwing together a 383 for it. My question is, if I were to run a mild 9.5-10:1 383 with a very mild cam, would the stock ECM and PROM run it? I am not looking for all out, high RPM power. Just a cruiser with gobs of torque, which I know the TPI 383 would provide. I have a set of brand new 24lb injectors and World Sportsman heads already. But would it run and idle ok? Fortunately, its an L98 car to start with. but Ive heard stories about the 85 MAF ECM being different in the sense that it operated at a much lower baud rate compared to the 86-89 MAF ECM's. I figured since I have to buy pistons, a crank, and have it balanced anyway...why not go with a stoker crank? Anyway, does anyone have any ACTUAL experience with this?

I run a very similar setup in a 86, it's a DD gets good mpg and is fun to drive.

The 383 will like the 24#, the ECM won't. Better plan on some tuning.

The 86-89 maf has more of a tuning base, so more help can be given.

It will run fine with the stock prom if you run the stock 22 lb injectors, if you run the 24 lb injectors you may have to tune it. Tuning the 1985 ECM is not a big deal, I have tuned a few and they work fine.
