ZZ4 Heads (463 castings) on an LB9 question
okay folks. i'm getting ready to buy aluminum heads for my LB9 (that will be ATI supercharged). I'm leaning towards getting the ZZ4 heads because they have screw in studs, LT4 springs (which will support my 500/510 lift cam) and there aren't many small valved-aluminum heads.
The ZZ4 heads don't have provisions for an EGR. Will not having the EGR, increase crankcase pressures? Does the EGR have anything to do with the crankcase pressure?
Thanks in advance!

I hate to nitpick and even I was guilty of this at one point in time. I aways assumed the GM part number was the same as the casting. 463 is the last 3 of the part number of the newest ZZ4 heads, but they still have the 113 casting number. I had my engine all togather when I mentioned the 463 casting, but in reality they are just modified 113s carrying the 463 part number.

Re: ZZ4 Heads (463 castings) on an LB9 question
Hey guys, that is somEthing I`ve noticed from looking at the heads online or in magazines.I have read some of fasts post as well as others that say casting 463 and all.I`ve been wondering about that.So thats cleared up I guess. So they are all 113 castings and 463 is just the part number.Thought I was missing something. The new castings are supposed to be much better than the production ones.I have read posts where guys said they had bowl work, cleaned up radius, and back cut valves out of the box.I didnt even check mine before install so not sure if mine do.If you get them take a look and post up if they do.I`m gonna check mine out when I do an intake swap.

If your talking about the zz4 heads on a 305,I knowits a common mod and I`ve read the zz4 heads with the stock size valves is a known good setup for a 305.I think you should get the heads milled some.

TrickFlow has some really badass aluminum heads designed for the small-bore engines like the 305 and 283. They have 54cc chambers, 175cc ports, 1.94/1.50 valves, screw-in studs, etc... all the good stuff. They are heavily based on the 195cc/64cc heads.
You should check those out, they are probably the best 'small-bore' head on the market.

Go with Air_Adam's suggestion. I wouldnt use the ZZ4 heads with a supercharged 305. They're too small of ports and bad flow.
