dies in minutes
so after getting my car to turn on after sitting there for acouple months. i turn it on, and it runs good for about 10 to 15 minutes, than all of a sudden it starts to stumble, but when i gas it, it sounds good and does great. but it seems like i here alittle squeeking kinda noise when i hit the accelerator. so anyways when i let off the gas it just dies out. but then i just turn it right back on and itll idle for acouple more minutes, then it dies out again.
anyone know where i should start to look?

I believe its fuel related...I would have guessed fuel pump, but since it runs fine for a while until it acts up, then probably not... but the way you have to gas it, does seem fuel related. My car had a very similar problem though, before the engine caught fire...the injectors where dumping fuel. Moister can get into the injectors over time if they arent used for a while and then cause the things inside the injectors to mess up and dump fuel (meaning way too much fuel for fire) into your engine. It may cost a lot, but I'd have someone pressure check them. Before I figured out what my problem was, like you, the car would sometimes try to die if I didn't give it gas, but it was mostly when I was trying to start it, not after it ran for a while... it would have to run for a LONG time, or get on the road and get to about 50+ miles and hour and then she'd try to shut down. Wish I had known what was wrong before the car became toast though...so sad, she was a beauty(thats the car I have pictured btw) Also try Ohming the injectors, but it may not be the best test to see if fuel is being dumped, but its worth a try. If one or more of the injectors is a lot lower than most of them, like at least 5 points lower, you might have an injector issue. If the injectors aren't it, guess you can try the fuel pump, but try changing the fuel filter first. I wonder if spark plugs could do this....hmm not sure. but I do know not to put those Bosch 4 platinums in theres, they didnt work for my '89 for some odd reason... are there any other symtoms that could hepl draw a conclusion? overheating? that squeaking noise you hear, only time i ever heard squeaking was when theres a bad belt, i've heard whistling from air leaks...but seems to not be that or it wouldnt run very well at first. lemme ask you this, when you hit the accelerator in idle, does the car has a quick hesitate to accel and is the rev real slow to drop back down? my car had an issue to rev at idle, like it hesitated for a split second and then suddenly went "vroooom!!!" and VERY slowly dropped back down (due to too much fuel at once) normally you only here vroom for about a second or two when you tap it, mine was more like vrOOOOOOOoooooommmmmmm.... lol took at least 5 seconds to go back to normal idle. I know i'm talking alot. Tryin to come to conclusions as I type lol. Hope i helped a lil bit. oh, one more thing (lol). If it is the problem i had, the exhaust manifolds will literally "glow" but may not as bad as mine did since most of my injectors where trash, yours may not be as bad. At nite is the best time to check, but your car will overheat if they glow. so if its not overheating, they prolly wont do it.

yeah that car is a beauty. sorry to hear about the fire but about my problem is that my car doesnt overheat, the fuel pump and fuel filter have both been changed. some im being led to believe that i have an ignition problem, i know timing is dead on, but i think the ignition coil might be goin bad, i hear how it goes bad is that once youve let the car run for awhile it gets hot and stops working. but im not completely sure about it

could be. never had an ignition coil problem but sounds about right. now that you mention that, something electrical has to be wrong with his car. so good answer sounds better than mine and makes more sense, im no mechanic but i'm learning and learned a few things while i had that Iroc lol.
