Bosch Design III Injectors and TPI

___This post is to share what I learned and hopefully keep you guys from having the problems I did. I recently needed to replaced my fuel injectors and read a lot of good reviews about the Bosch Design III's. So I went on Ebay and found the injetors. I emailed the guy to ask him if they would work with my 1992 Z-28. he said they will bolt right up. Well, i trusted him and turns out he was wrong. The new bosch injectors are about 1/4" shorter than the stock multecs that come in the Camaro's. So I emailed him and he sent me 8 extra injector o rings and told me to put them in the intake then install the injectors on top of them. WOW! What quality. It might have worked, I dont know but there was no way i was going to do it and find out it doesn't work when my car burns down.
___I did some research on TGO and found John at Fuel Injector Connection. (FIC) You guys said he did great work so I called him. John said He could fix them by re milling the base and putting on an additional o ring. I sent them out to him and he re milled them and flow tested 'em too. it turns out two of my injectors were frozen! So John rebuilt all of them at no extra charge. ___Needless to say, I am extremenly happy with FIC and not so happy with the guy I bought them from. And John even called me a week later to make sure everything turned out well. hows that for customer service!
___So the moral of this story is simple---YES Bosch Desigh III's work in TPI Camaros BUT they have to be lengthened!! and FIC is the way to go! They are the only place I found that does it.
The Throttle response was a noticeable difference and the hesitation problem I had went away after the new injectors. Im attaching some pics to show the different injectors. The first pic is the multec and a normal Design III. The second one is a multec and the FIC design III.

Re: Bosch Design III Injectors and TPI

Hello All,
I ordered a set of 22lb injectors, from FIC, for a '92 Corvette LT1. As b4 has mentioned, the Bosch lll are slightly shorter than the OE injectors. My injectors came with a one page instruction sheet detailing the installation for a TPI motor. When comparing the height difference of the OE and Bosch lll design, I noticed a second o-ring on the bottom of the Bosch lll design. At first I wondered what the extra o-ring was for...

In addition, the instruction said not to reuse the OE metal retaining clip(s). Well the Bosch design does not incorporate the notch anyhow to use the metal retaining clip. I proceeeded to install the injectors based on the fact that FIC has sold many injectors and they must know what they are doing. After installing the new injectors, I figured out what the second o-ring was for... Since the metal retaing clip is not used, the second o-ring compresses itself against the intake manifold to stop the injector from moving under (fuel) pressure. Although the injector is just a tad bit shorter, there is plenty of room inside the fuel rail and intake manifold to make up for this reduced height of the injector. FYI

Re: Bosch Design III Injectors and TPI

The bosch design III injectors from FIC have modified bases to fit the TPI engines without any problems. I ordered a set of 22lbs injectors and havn't had any problems.

I recommend the SVO 24lb injectors. Install in easy, they are the right length, and you can use the factory retainer clips. Plus I think the spray pattern may be a little better.
