LT1 cam and 1.6 Rockers- Question

I'm installling an LT1 cam ( '92- 205/207 @ 451 /450 117 LSA) in an '87 L69 with 081 heads. I plan on changing the springs and seals. The car has slightly ported TPI, TES headers, 200-4r with 2400 stall, 3.73. Car will be used strictly as a driver / cruiser.

What I wanted to understand is if I could (or should) also change the rockers to 1.6 while I have it apart. That would give approx 207/209 @ 481 / 482. Would this lift be too much for the head / piston clearance?

Thanks

No, you'll be fine on piston to valve clearance.

Its the springs that are the problem. You mentioned changing the springs so you'll be fine. I'd recommend the Manley 22409-16 springs and 23652-16 retainers. That'll allow for .525" lift max on stock heads.

Thanks for the input on the springs. Looks good. Before I make my final decision on the LT1 cam, I would like to know much lift can I go on stock 081 heads? Thinking about the ZZ4 cam, but at .474 intake, .510 exhaust, I am worried about it.

Yes, stock heads and valve springs are good for around .470" lift maximum.
