Which acc. system do I use for the 601 heads?
I have an 87 trans am with the vbelt setup, alt on pass side( no ac or air) and I also have a complete serp setup from a 91 trans am. My car is not at my house so I cant see the alt bracket but since the 601 heads only have 1 acc. bolt on the pass side once mounted which acc set up will work better with it. I know alot of members use these heads on lb9s and l98s so I would love some input. thanks guys

Serprintine setups have alot less problems with throwing belts, so that is the better setup IMO. I like the 'half breed' setup on my Camaro though... IIRC, its off an '87... had the regular V-belt for the power steering, but a serpentine style belt for the alt, WP, and crank. Its the same as a V-belt layout, but uses a flat belt for the alt, WP, crank.

I know the serp system is better than vbelt. Since there is only 1 acc. hole on the pass side head instead of the normal 3 will I need to run one or the other, or can I use either one with no problems?

You probably wont have any problems installing the F-car serp setup, but I've never installed that setup myself, so I can't say for sure if you need the other bolt holes. Not likely, but I'm not 100%.

Putting a serpentine belt setup on your 87 Trans Am requires way more than I was able to find using the search. If you have a donor car, you'll want to use the hard fuel lines as well as parts of the wiring harness (or at least the AC plug if you plan to put it back on your car)
You'll need the 3 holes in the driver's side head to mount the bracket properly (the driver's side bracket attaches with 5 bolts directly to the block/heads) and you'll need 2 holes in the head of the passenger side (4 bolts in total), one is a long torx bolt that goes through the upper end of the AIR pump. I believe you could get around not using the second (AIR pump) bolt if you attach the passenger side bracket IF you properly attach the two black support rods that attach to the upper and lower passenger side aluminum bracket.
I had to mess around with way more than it seemed to be in the beginning, let me know if you have any questions, I took a whole bunch of pics of both cars just to make sure everything is right.

GMPP still sells the F-car serpentine setup as their 'universal' serpentine system. Look on their website and see the pics, and where the bolts go. They usually have decent pics of that stuff.
