i have a 1986 trans am ws6 with the lb9. First I was feeling the car was'nt right. So i checked the timing. It was 40 degrees advanced. Next i retarded the timing to like 6 degrees adavnced. It sounded sweet lol. then i took it for a test drive and the car was just screwed up i hooked the wires back up and all. the car was not responding to the gas pedal. wasnt going past 20mph. then my check engine light came on. it felt like i was gonna barely make it home. what is the base timing for the lb9 and after doing that how would i adjust the tps, and air thing w/e its called. please help cause i need to go to school tommorow and i will deffinelty not make it. Base timing is 6* BTDC. You need to adjust the base timing with the EST wire disconnected. This will bypass the electronic spark timing. This is a single wire connector that should be located near the back of the right valve cover. It is tan and black I believe. The base timing should also be located on the label under the hood.
