converting a corvair to tpi
converting a corvair to tpi
I have a computer from a 1992 pontiac grand am v6
There is several #'s on it
01227727 16139681 ASHJ
I am puting this on a corvair 6 cylinder. I haven't found any definition files for this and cant seem to figure out what mask it uses. Can I down load a bin that is suported for another v6 with SD and change the chip in my memcal. Can I use a V8?
Thanks in advance for any information

Re: converting a corvair to tpi
GrandAm's are not actualy tuned port by name and the only V6 to have the tuned port name attached was the early 3800 FWD.
I'm sure there are people that can help you on this site but you might be better served looking at forums and web sites that cover a broader spectrum of GM EFI than TGO.
But go ahead and look in the V6 forums and the DFI ECM forum to see if they offer any insight to your project.
As I see it it seems pretty simple to install the requsite parts on the manifold with 2 exceptions.
#1 what are you going to do about a throttoe body TPS and IAC?
#2 Will you be converting to DIS as well? The only V6 EFI system I can think of from GM that wasnt distributorless was the 4.3 V6.

Thanks for the reply.
The car has a 4 barrel manifold. I plan on puting a elbow on top of it then uing the v6 tb. Also I do plan on using DIS
I think I found i could burn my own chip with a bin close to what i need. I was hoping to verify that here.
Best regards, Josh
