help with 89 tpi
help with 89 tpi
Hello there. I have a 85 el camino with a 1989 350 tpi motor that was installed by someone else. i have noticed that there is no MAF sensor or no MAP sensor?? I thought you needed one of these for engine load? Or is it possible that it is using N alpha fuel injection that is just using the tps and engine speed? Would it be beneficial to install one of these systems? the car seems to run fine, maybe a little rich, the guy has been driving it like this for years? any input would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Re: help with 89 tpi
A stock 89 tpi will run without a maf sensor, but it will be in "limp" mode, a preditermined set of values the ecm will use without a maf and not meant for daily driving.
I do think that there are aftermarket ecm's available that eliminate the maf altogether.
