Help me build my engine, Please
Help me build my engine, Please
First off since I'm a new member I'll start with hello and I'm from Northfeild Minnesota and am wanting help building a engine.
The engine I'm working with is a 4 bolt main 350 that is gonna be tpi that I would like to make alot of torque with this engine.
I am thinking around 450 ft lbs and around 400 hp
It's gonna be slow steps, one I'm married with children(low funds) and two I wanna make sure I'm doing it right.
This what I have in mind and your welcome to correct me or point me in another direction.
Starting with bottom end,
-383 stroker crank from Eagle products
-10.5:1 pistons
Thanks guys all input is welcome

TPI is a bit restrictive for a 383. You may be better served to try a StealthRam or another type of EFI setup. Also, I'm not sure what you'd have to do to get 400hp on TPI, might be a bit of a budget blower at that point.

I agree with what was said above...sadly. I would say you could make a max of 275 whp with the TPI, unless you boosted it or started switching runners and bases. And if you have the money to do that you may as well buy a Stealtram. But i'll tell you you would have a good time for the money if you played with the intake by porting it and added a camshaft/tune/exhaust.
I dropped 4 tenths off my time on my stock as ***** GTA 350 by getting it tuned alone. And I know that the stock exhausts suck even in the best aps used by GM.
Now im not sure what your application is but if you have not already purchased the rotating assembly I would suggest you try out Speedway Motors Kits http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Small-...Kits,3176.html. They are basic but will hold the power levels you are wanting and will be the best bang for the buck. Now something to consider about pistons is that you dont really need forged ones unless you are planning on running boost or nitrous. Also if you have a 350 block you will need to "massage" the crank area to make sure you dont have a clearance issue.
I really hope that helps man!
