305 TPI idles erratically
I have a 1987 Camaro with a 305 TPI engine...Just swapped from carb (LG4) to TPI.
It is a MAF system of a 1988 Camaro...
The car starts easy and runs great for a while, but I am having a lot of idling problems. The car stalls also if I have been driving for a while and going to brake a lot...
any ideas??..I know many of you will say vacuum leaks...I don't have any check valve from the plenum to the brake booster. Will that affect anything?..though I have a vacuum hose going there...
I don't have any hose going from the throttle body to the crankcase ventilation, will that affect any of the idling??
Also I have adjusted the IAC valve a couple of times and still it is idling a little bit erratically I think...900RPM to 1300RPM in PARK....
The car is also very close to stalling when setting gear to DRIVE and stay with full brakes...
any ideas??

Re: 305 TPI idles erratically
If you tried cleaning the IAC and it did not work, try replacing it with a new one. Went the same route with the poor idle & stalling and after replacing the IAC and reseting the idler no more problems. Idler sits at 550/600 all day long.

Re: 305 TPI idles erratically
I have same question. Same problem. Motor idles around 900 RPM-s and as soon as I put it on gear it dies.
MAF is new, TPS is new, IAC is cleaned and also tried anouther one...nothing! Idle timing is around 8-10 degrees ( with wire not connected )
It also "throw back" sometimes to exhaust when hit throttle
How much have to be normal vacuum read at idle? And can I use vacuum line from intake to read manifold vacuum? ( it have Holley Stealth Ram intake )
Thanks
