low idle

Car: 1991 Trans Am
Engine: sb chevy's.
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 2.73
low idle
so i noticed the car has been eating gas like crazy. Also idle drops to about 400 or 300 after running it for about 1 hr. What could be the cause of this? the car runs fine and idles good when its first started. and the idle is around 800 or so.
